Extended deadline - Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa fellowships

August 31, 2011

Dear colleague,

Please note that the deadline for the Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa fellowships has been extended to September 30, 2011. This decision was made in order to provide applicants with more time to strengthen their applications. Additionally, we seek to encourage teaching assistants and research assistants who hold a master’s degree to consider applying for the dissertation proposal fellowship, which does not require enrollment in a PhD program.

Applications and guidelines for all three fellowships offered by our program are available on our website:

www.ssrc.org/programs/nextgenafrica/

All applicants must explain how their work aligns with the program’s thematic priorities and demonstrate their capacity to contribute to a network advancing innovative research on peace, security, and development. Applicants should submit a project proposal that has been written specifically for this fellowship competition rather than simply submitting the approved doctoral dissertation proposal that they developed for their university.

Frequently asked questions about our fellowships and the application process can be found at:

If you have any questions that are not addressed in our FAQs, please feel free to contact us at: nextgenafrica@ssrc.org.

If you are pursuing one of our fellowship opportunities, we wish you the best of luck in your preparations and very much look forward to receiving your application.

Best regards,

Tom Asher
