BISA Working Group Funding

October 7, 2014

Established Working Groups are invited to apply for funding to support their work during calendar year 2015 by making an application by 12th December 2014. Working Group annual reports/accounts should be submitted as part of this application. If you are not applying for funding, Working Groups should still submit an annual report and associated accounts please email these to the BISA office bisa [at]

BISA has £25,000 to award to Working Groups. Working Groups are invited to apply for a MAXIMUM of £2500. This will be a very competitive process as there are currently about 30 Working Groups in different stages of activity so groups should ensure their plans are well articulated with supporting information including detailed budgets. BISA will prioritise plans that maximise the profile of the association and its charitable mission to represent cutting edge UK International Studies research.

Given the competitive nature of this process, the Trustees will reserve the right to support an activity at a lower level of funding than that sought by the Group. Joint applications between Working Groups would be welcomed. Where competition is tight, we would emphasise outputs, inclusivity of membership (including BISA membership a Group can demonstrate) and impact beyond the academic community, in that order, as deciding factors.

Judgements will be made by the Research Sub-Committee of the BISA Board of Trustees, and then discussed by the Board itself. Working Groups will be informed of the outcome by the end of January 2015.

Working Groups must have a suitable bank account set up to receive any funding otherwise there may be delays in funding provision as BISA will not administer funding for working groups.
